Katie Insalaco is a next-career seminarian at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary who lives and learns in Portland, Oregon. Katie’s interest in climate justice can be traced back to her experience running environmental education programs for youth and then becoming LEED-accredited in the early days of the green building movement. Joining the concentration program at PLTS’s Center for Climate Justice and Faith was a logical next step for her along her journey towards becoming a Lutheran pastor.
Katie is especially intrigued by the deep relationship-building that the EcoFaith Practicum offers. The climate crisis can only be mitigated through solidarity that is squarely pointed toward justice and deeply rooted in love. Katie hopes to carry the community organizing skills learned from the Practicum into her new congregation by empowering others to love one another completely by loving creation in the same way.
