EcoFaith Recovery Practicum Program Goals
  • Foster learning communities and develop Initiatives that dare to name and understand how and why our civilization has become unsustainable, and together draw upon our spiritual resources to act powerfully together to recover sustainable ways of being.
  • Engage, mentor and nurture youth and young adults to grow into leaders who can provide spiritual, economic and community leadership for decades to come.
  • Build and re-build powerful institutions and networks that not only understand the causes of this crisis, but that can also employ the vast resources of Christianity, creation, cosmos and community toward the work of healing.
Purpose of Practicum

EcoFaith Recovery practicum is designed to provide opportunities, for seminarian interns:

1) to further the mission and advance the goals of EcoFaith Recovery, and

2) to develop leadership qualities, skills and knowledge around dreams that will help advance human recovery in ways consistent with our identity statement and our emerging vision and mission.

General Structure of Internship
  • The EcoFaith Practicum is incorporated into the seminary internship experience. Practicum participants are accompanied for the duration of their internship by an EcoFaith Practicum Coordinator, a personal mentor, and a five-member cohort of interns serving diverse contexts across the country.
April 2019 Weekend Institute

EcoFaith Recovery invites seminarians to participate in its 2019 Practicum cohort. The cohort will begin with a four day Weekend Institute in the bay area, where practicum interns will be immersed in the culture, practices, and pedagogy of EcoFaith Recovery.

Practicum participants are accompanied for the duration of their internship by an EcoFaith Practicum Coordinator, a personal mentor, and a five-member cohort of interns serving diverse contexts across the country. With this support, interns develop the spiritual consciousness that enables them to align their practice of ministry with a holistic vision of a just, life-giving, and sustainable world. By engaging in these Practices, interns develop deep relationships with members of the communities they serve and learn the stories of their congregations, their broader communities, and the land that the faith community inhabits. Along with their faith communities, interns participating in EcoFaith Practicums discern and develop a contextual, community response to climate injustice or to a local environmental justice issue. This community response takes the form of a project, action, or campaign mutually identified by the intern and key congregational leaders.
