Call to Action! Our friends at Verde are asking us for assistance on the Nature for All campaign. The November 5th election day is approaching quickly and ballots get mailed October 16th, so we need to act fast. And ideally together!
Nature for All will be ballot measure 26-203 on the November 2019 ballot for Portland Metro voters (Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties). Our role is to turn out the vote because a good voter turnout is critical to passing initiative. See the campaign web site www.yesnatureforall.com and the one-pager here for more information.
Nature for All advances social equity by improving and building parks, especially in low income areas. Nature for All also cares for our planet earth by protecting green spaces, watersheds and native habitat across the region. A broad coalition of social justice, environmental justice and community organizations, including our friends at 350PDX, APANO, Audubon, Sierra Club and Verde, are endorsing Nature for All.
We’ll act in two ways.
- First, raise awareness of the upcoming vote and advocate for a ‘yes’ vote on this measure with your faith community. Make an announcement at worship, publish to your bulletin, publish a newsletter or table at fellowship hour. A communication toolkit is available here. Flyers are available from Scott Shurtleff (bethwooddad@gmail.com) or at campaign HQ.
- Second (this is the act together part), get a group of your members to one of the campaign canvasses below. Take a fun picture and send it to Jennilee at office@ecofaithrecovery.org so we can post it to social media. Whose picture shows the most fun?
Let’s answer Verde’s call for assistance! Contact one of us with your questions.
