On September 21st, one hour before the People’s Climate Rally and March began in Portland (in solidarity with the main New York March that drew 400,000 people), 130 people from 25 different congregations of many different denominations including at least one bishop gathered to ground ourselves in the richness of our faith traditions, share inspirational testimonies, pray, sing, drum, connect, and inspire one another to deeper faith and more courageous public action.

Then with even more singing and drumming we proceeded down to the march together where we were joined by literally hundreds more people of faith whom EcoFaith leaders had invited to the event, utilizing the relational network and sharing resources through the technologies they had established through EcoFaith Recovery.

In the process we joined other faith-based organizations in turning out a powerful presence of people of faith committed to caring for God’s creation. Among us were those recovering from isolation, despair, apathy, hopelessness, and burn out who were joining others in reclaiming our true vocation as people of faith and citizens of earth.
