December 30, 2011
As we look forward to 2012, I extend a heartfelt thank you. Together, we are truly making a difference for God’s earth and earth’s people!
In the three years since we first received a concept grant from Extraordinary Lutheran Ministries, EcoFaith Recovery has expanded to touch over 300 people through retreats, worship services, leadership table talks, networking events, pilgrimages in the natural world, congregational trainings, and ongoing spiritual recovery groups. Thanks to those of you are making a difference through your partnership in this effort and those of you who are considering joining us in whatever way is right for you!
As we look forward to a significant expansion of EcoFaith Recovery in 2012 with a new partnership with the Lutheran Community Foundation, we are inviting leaders, participants, supporters, and friends to join us in two primary ways:
1) Let us know how you would like to be involved or help others get involved as we expand our efforts in the coming year.
2) Please consider whether the Spirit may be leading you to offer a monthly pledge for 2012.
With the partnership and support of people like you, EcoFaith Recovery will expand our capacity in 2012 to:
• activate the leadership potential of five youth and young adults through stipended service-learning leadership positions facilitated by local mentors
• engage people who do not currently have a community of faith but are seeking a faith relevant to the real challenges and opportunities of our time,
• co-sponsor a five-month leadership training called “Organizing in the Biocommons,â€Â
• train local congregations to incorporate Care for Creation into their worship, education, building/grounds, personal discipleship, and public ministry; and
• pilot a new group for seminarians,
• share what we are learning beyond the Pacific Northwest by further developing our website, creating a blog, and regularly updating the information at test.ecofaithrecovery.org.
• foster faith-based recovery groups (like Simply in Season) and other approaches that lead to more sustainable theologies and more faithful ways of life.
We have an exciting year ahead and are welcoming all who would like to take part! Thank you for your prayerful consideration as we seek healing for God’s Earth and Earth’s people.
In God’s wide embrace,
