Hello friends,

I’ve been AWOL from writing for two-plus weeks as my husband Thor has been in and out of the hospital with an infection. Scary. He’s finally better. Still. I wish that my faith and focus were so strong that I could write unflappably, whatever is happening. I’m not there yet! Ideally you’d have received this email earlier.

Following up on earlier announcements:

You’re invited to join the 2018 EcoFaith retreat! Please reply now if you plan to come.

EcoFaith Recovery Retreat
November 30 – December 2, 2018 (Friday afternoon through Sunday morning)
Camp Collins, outside Gresham on the Sandy River
Cost: $150. Includes lodging, meals, program
Deadline to register and pay: August 28th

Photos are of Treetop Village cabins at Camp Collins, which were our lodging during our 2017 EcoFaith Retreat, and will also be our 2018 lodging.

At this retreat, we’ll do all of our seven practices, but particularly Practice 7 Renewal. I respect diversity, but I’ve got to say that not all renewal practices are equal. In my experience, watching a movie, even a great one, compares to last November’s EcoFaith retreat the way that bread and water compares to a homecooked gourmet meal. I came away from the 2017 retreat filled with the Spirit. I recall the faces and demeanors of my fellows as being similar to mine.

EcoFaithers already committed to attending the 2018 retreat:  Scott Shurtleff from Waverly Heights UCC, Emily Herbert from First Unitarian, Robyn Hartwig from St. Andrew Lutheran, Solveig Nilsen-Goodin from Wilderness Way Community, Caroline Earnest from St. Ignatius Catholic Church, and myself, from Lincoln Street Methodist.
